• India has never been a big market for video games, but it’s picking up. India’s video-game console market is expected to grow to $125.4 million by 2010, rising at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 75 percent from $13.3 million in 2006.
• American doctors are backing away from a controversial proposal to designate video game addiction as a mental disorder akin to alcoholism. Addiction experts also strongly opposed the idea at a debate at the American Medical Association’s annual meeting.
• Nicole Kidman is the face of a publicity campaign for the latest Nintendo computer game. The Moulin Rouge star appears with a handheld console trying out the latest “brain training” techniques. With her help, the Japanese firm wants to extend the appeal of computer games beyond its traditional young, male audience to reach more women and older people.
• Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot just mentioned that the video game tie-in to the hit series “Lost” is still on schedule for 2007. The game, which is almost forgotten for lack of screenshots or any solid news that tell people of its existence, is not even included in Ubisoft UK’s updated release schedule. Guillemot has reported though that it’s still in development in Ubisoft’s Montreal studio and will be released before 2007 ends. Yay!

• A video game banned in the UK and Ireland and facing restricted sales in the United States due to its violent content was a fine piece of art, the game’s publisher said on Wednesday. Sony and Nintendo have confirmed that they will no longer support publication of the game for their various platforms.
• The popular children’s Web site Webkinz.com went down for more than 36 hours to the dismay of thousands children across the country. Webkinz are wildly popular stuffed animals originally released by the Ganz gift company in 2005. The toys are similar to many other small soft toys, but they come with a special code on their labels that allows access to the Webkinz World Web site to adopt a virtual version of the pet for virtual interaction.
• Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will have in-game ads. Neil Postlethwaite, Managing Director for Splash Damage, said in his post:

Dirty Garry is a machinima film made in Garrysmod 10 that parodies the Gmod roleplay community and the 1970 movie Dirty Harry starring Clint Eastwood. In this movie, Garry himself is playing a top cop in a what probably is a typical roleplay server banning people that are disrupting the server rules. However, there is one mingebag who seems to be randomly slaughtering other players in the server with his illegal AWP.
